About Us

The Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro was established by Law enacted by the Delta State Government on November 12, 2002 during the administration of the then Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Chief James Onanefe Ibori. The Polytechnic is one of the four (4) tertiary institutions established at the same time by the State Government in its desire to meet the yearnings of Deltans for the acquisition of qualitative education that was not fully provided for by institutions owned by the Federal and State Government.

At the inception, the three polytechnics and College of Physical Education were managed as the Delta State Higher Education Project (DSHEP) in partnership with the University of Westminster, London. This arrangement was designed to fast track the development of the institutions.

It is pertinent to state that prior to the establishment of the polytechnic, there was a College of Agriculture on ground which was later absorbed into the polytechnic. The Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro from inception has witnessed systematic and steady growth and development in terms of infrastructure and academic standard. The foregoing has made the polytechnic an enviable citadel of learning, a prestigious institution where students acquire quality education and skills in different disciplines that could make them job creators instead of job seekers

Our Mission from the outset is to offer pertinent and diverse educational and technological programmes that enliven the mind, intelligently packaged for persons with various interest and abilities and to engage in teaching, research and service. The central thrust revolves around:

• Providing occupational and/or technological programmes aimed at preparing students for employment and entrepreneurship.
• Providing continuing education programmes for the unemployed, employed and underemployed adults who need education for advancement and development of themselves and society.
• Providing educational programmes that enhance quality of life.
• Developing sound collaborative partnership with appropriate multinational organizations, transnational bodies, NGOs as well as individual for national development.
