About the Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science was established in January, 2004 as the lone department in the then School of Computer and Information Technology (which in 2009 metamorphosed to the School of Science and Technology). The Department came as a result of the Polytechnic’s desire to reposition herself for effective teaching and learning through the use of Computer and Information Technology, which is the driving force behind every successful venture in the contemporary society. 

The Department is currently running both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND). These two programmes have successfully gained full accreditation and recently in July 2019 and January 2020 the ND and HND programmes successfully gained re-accreditation respectively.

The Department Vision

The Department of Computer Science vision is to become a World class department with strong research orientation equipped with Qualified and Competent Personnel to meet the ICT manpower needs of the Society.

The Department Mission

• To provide platforms with state-of-the art infrastructures needed to ensure quality research, teaching and learning of computer and ICT related courses.
• To provide industrial exposure to students through collaboration with relevant industries in the form of excursion, SIWES, and other related technical inductions.
• To continually engage in professional personnel development and imparting practical knowledge that will foster Programming Skills, Software Application Development and deployment amid future technological changes.
